The Goalie Lab Training Philosophy
With 40 years in lacrosse and 30 years of coaching goalies, I have learned what works when helping goalies develop.
What Works
Helping goalies gain confidence by improving their mechanics and fundamentals
Breaking down the most minute details of playing the position so that every goalie trained is met with success
Goalies learn by watching themselves. That is why video analysis is a key component of Goalie Lab trainings
Developing the "entire" goalie - That means working on clearing the ball, stick-work, playing the position as part of a defense, helping understand how to deal with failure and how to turn failure into improvement.
Giving goalie "keys" - concepts and ideas that help them improve on their own personal deficiencies.
Goalies DO NOT improve when "coaching" them equates to throwing them in a goal and pumping them with hundreds of shots without reminding them of their keys.
